After a month of dedicated preparation, it was finally time to launch the very first GAME ON HK football volunteering session! It was a pretty hot day, but the kids showed up with passion, energy, and ready to step on the court. They participated eagerly and with enthusiasm, which was great to see at such young ages. The session ran smoothly and there were a lot of smiles on the court. Seeing the kids being so engaged in the drills and activities we prepared for them was definitely the highlight of our session together.

Overall, teaching young kids how to play tennis was satisfying and enjoyable. Watching their handheld tightly grip the racket, and the excitement of hitting the ball (and the teacher) is a rewarding experience in itself. Each shot, whether the kids hit the ball hard or not, is a milestone; it is a breakthrough not only for the kids but for me, too. In late October, Game On collaborated with Pickup, a platform hosting pickup basketball games, to host a 2 hour basketball clinic for children in the Sham Shui Po area. The session was a great success, coaches demonstrated the fundamentals of basketball such as dribbling and shooting. The most exciting part was the mini games and collaborative drills. From early September to the end of October, Game On and Friends of the Earth hosted 8 weekly basketball training sessions to support and promote basketball for unprivileged kids from the age of 6-13.
