Thank you, Game On, for this opportunity to let me be a part of the Tennis Fun Day on 2/9 at YMCA Kings Park. This event was about introducing tennis to kids who are new to the sport and helping them build a bond with this special game. Our volunteers worked very hard to make the event enjoyable and interesting for the kids.
We first did some fun warm-up exercises like the Snake Run, where participants needed to follow the leader’s moves and run around the court like a train, one behind another. The kids had a great time, laughing and screaming as they ran around! Besides the Snake Run, the Caterpillar Run was another running game where players had to pass the ball under their legs and avoid it. Many kids did an excellent job, successfully avoiding the ball, and their reactions were very impressive!

After the exhausting warm-ups, we demonstrated forehand and backhand techniques and let the kids try them out. Some of the kids showed exceptional talent, while others were learning and improving as well. The volunteers also did a great job by providing clear and easy-to-follow demonstrations, helping the kids learn quickly and effectively. Most of the kids performed brilliantly, successfully hitting the tennis ball into the court – a big achievement!
Furthermore, after the demonstrations and practicing forehands and backhands, it was game time! The kids tried to throw the ball into a basket on the other side of the net, creating a lot of laughter and chaos at the same time. The joy and excitement of the kids brought satisfaction to both the parents and the volunteers, making the event a huge success.
The kids and volunteers had a thrilling morning, and it was surely an unforgettable experience for everyone involved – a day that they will not forget. Game On will continue to hold more events in the future to provide special opportunities for kids interested in tennis in Hong Kong.
